The career of Garth Brooks

After Brooks finished college in 1985, he started performing in local bars and clubs as a singer and guitarist. An entertainment lawyer from Dallas made the trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to see Brooks’ performance. The guy promised a first demo release. Brooks moved to Nashville in search of a record contract. Within a day, he was back in Oklahoma. After being convinced by the lawyer, Garth decided to give Nashville another go. It was in 1987 when Brooks made his way to Music City.

Brooks’ first album, “Hungry Years,” was released the same year. The album peaked at number two on Billboard’s country album list. His breakthrough song, “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” can be found on this album. In the year following, Brooks went on tour with Kenny Rogers, opening for the iconic performer. When “Brooks released no Fences” in 1990, it spent 23 weeks at the top of the country albums chart. “Friends in Low Places” and “The Thunder Rolls” may be found on this album.

“No Fences” is Brooks’ best-selling album to date, and it has four singles that peaked at No. 1 on country music charts. In the fall of 1991, Brooks released his third studio album, “Ropin’ the Wind,” which immediately went to the top of the Billboard 200. For the first time, a country performer has accomplished this feat. By having three albums in the top 20 on the Billboard 200 list simultaneously, Brooks made history as a country music pioneer. His fourth studio album, titled “The Chase,” was released in the fall of 1992.
